Congratulations to the New Mr & Mrs Woods

On July 4th our son Daniel married his beautiful bride Jamie-Lee at the Brisbane Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.  It was beautiful.  Everything about the day was as beautiful and elegant as the bride herself.

They chose the Brookfield Hall  for their reception, right next to the Brookfield General Store where we all went to celebrate their engagement. This setting leant itself perfectly to their rustic wedding theme. Dan & Jamie-Lee choose a buffet style afternoon tea that was put together by her aunties. They were amazing! I can not forget to mention Jamie-Lee's gorgeous grandmother who was ever so patient waiting for me to arrive the day before with the tablecloths and runners I had made.  She whipped those table  setting into place.  Chairs were perfect as were the centrepieces.
It was an absolutely perfect day.
We used honey from our hives for the bonbonniere.

Cupcake With That Chia Tea Anyone

Thank-you to Jacquie & Sue from Brighton State School for giving me the opportunity to provide you with 100 cupcakes for your Chia Tea Stall. It's hard to go past my Signature Chocolate Cupcakes which were the pink rose piped cupcakes with fondant leaves. Though the Vanilla is a close second. I wouldn't leave out our Gluten free friends either on the bottom photo with a small butterfly.
I also made the ladies a completely, totally yummy Triple Lemon Cake. This cake is made with a beautiful lemon cake, lemon's straight from the tree, which is then layered with both freshly made lemon curd and lemon buttercream. OH MY GOSH its good! I'm not one for eating the left over anything, but we had some leftover lemon buttercream. Another OH MY GOSH!! That was sooo good!!
So once again thank-you ladies.

Queensland Police PSBA Goes Virtual.

Yesterday saw the launch of the Queensland Police Public Safety Business Agency  Virtual Library.
The library department didn't have their new logo as yet, so I had to put my photoshop skills to the test and change it from this to that.

The other first for me was the use of edible images.  This has been on my radar for some time and was really happy with the results.  Mardi over at Sugarbug Edible Images did an amazing job with reproducing the logo for the cake. Mardi's cookies are beautiful.

Branded cupcakes or cake are a fantastic way to celebrate your companies success, launch or a standout events.  As with all my products, I bake fresh from scratch and can accommodate orders from a few as a dozen to whatever your company requires.

Happy 2nd Birthday Ava & Connor

'Farm Yard' was the theme for the twins 2nd birthday party and its all about cake.  Well at least for the twins.  When they hear the name Grandma, Ava immediately say's "Grandma cake". Once she arrives at our home and she's done her 'I'm so shy' routine for about 5 seconds, its straight to my side, takes my hand and leads me to the kitchen in search of cake.  I do digress but they are pretty darn cute.
Back to the party now.  As always Cait excels herself in the party throwing.  This year was no exception.  The day came complete with their very own John Deere cardboard tractor, piggy bean bag toss,  hay bale horsy, and everyone dressed up for their day on the 'farm'.
Can you believe that the rocks on Connor's cake are chocolate!

Thanks to Maddie (12) once again for helping out with the cake.  She made the animals for her nieces cake.

I just can't believe they're 2 already.  The great thing about this week is that I get to make a cake and matching cupcakes like Connor's all over again for a very special little boy who's turning 5!

Jacquie & Steve's Wedding

Jacquie & Steve choose one of my favourite venues too hold their special day.  Topiaries Beaumont House  is beautiful and the weather was perfect.  Jacquie had decided to theme the day around her exquisite silver & diamante shoes. As you can see from the results of the table settings she made a perfect choice. I was tasked with creating a three tiered cake and seventy-two cupcakes ready & packaged together to be placed on the tables and serve as the bonbonniere's.

During our initial consultation, we settled on the clear cupcake box's, filigree cupcake wraps with silver ribbon & a diamante flower.  Jacquie had had printed personalised embossed 'with love' cards that  co-ordinated with the Order of Service cards on the day. They were amazingly beautiful.

They decided on 3 dozen of my Signature Chocolate Cupcakes with buttercream icing and 2 dozen Red Velvet Cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and the final dozen being Chocolate Gluten Free Cupcakes. The gluten free cupcakes were distinguishable by the use of darker silver wrappers.

The cake was next on the agenda and Carrot Cake was a must for the Steve.  of course it included to old favourite of carrot cakes and thats the crushed walnuts, sultana's, pineapple with crisp green apple and carrots.  With cream cheese frosting a must on carrot cake that was our decider for the final frosting on the cake.  So that  gave us our top layer.  Moving on to layer 2 with that being a Triple Layered Lemon Cake.  The cake was a beautiful moist lemon cake smothered with homemade lemon curd. Finally put between the lemon layers was lemon cream cheese frosting.  The lemon's came from our garden which I think gives it that extra special taste when you cook everything from scratch.   the final layer was an old fashion Butter Cake.  This recipe is a family favourite in our home.  For Jacquie and Steve's cake, it was layered with salted caramel frosting.  This is a rich, smooth caramel flavour and a perfect companion to a butter cake.
I knew immediately my vintage silver cake stand would be a perfect to finish off this beautiful cake.  Jacquie also include beautiful peacock feathers on each napkin and also in the cake topper. It looked completely amazing.  She found the perfect balance simplicity & elegancy.

Baby Fletcher's Special Day

For his very special day, Fletcher had a double layered Signature Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese frosting. This cake did have a little story to it, but we got there in the end. I was very happy to hear that Bec received many compliments on the cake and most important was that she loved it. It was my pleasure to make this cake for such a beautiful family. Thanks again Bec

My Little Pony Party

My Little Pony is the perfect birthday theme for this precious little one. Now I did need to call upon the fount of all 'My Little Pony Knowledge' to ensure that I was reasonably accurate with the 'cutie marks'.  Cutie Marks you may ask?  Yes, my Lucy can tell you each pony has their special marking and this is  as essential as knowing that any good pirate wears an eye patch.  The fondant toppers below are different cutie marks.  Applejack, Twilight Sparkle.....  That would be Fluttershy sitting up there on top of the cake.

Happy 7th Birthday

Happy Birthday to a Harry Potter Fan.

Maddie very most BFF is a Harry Potter fan.  Not just any HP fan, but a diehard.  With that being the case there was only one cake that would do and as she is in Hufflepuff that too narrowed down the field.  When the cake was cut, it had brown and yellow layers.  The girls went to the school fancy dress dance as Bellatrix Lestrange & Deatheater.  They did come home with first prize and Miss Bellatrix loved her cake.

Last term Jess took a course at ASPAFTV.  It was a 10 week course and she had loads of fun.  The final afternoon the parents were welcomed in to watch the kids perform their individual and partnered pieces.  These were filmed 'in front of a live audience' I guess you could say.  Some of those young kids had spunk alright.

Happy Engagment Dan & Jamie-Lee

It's no secret I love a wedding and even more so when it's one of my children. I can't even begin to tell you how happy we are for these 2 and completely in love with Jamie-Lee the minute we met her.  These guys are a kind of a 'no frills and fuss' couple.  This I'm finding a challenge because my natural instict is OTT. I'm not sure when I'm going to get the picture because his two sisters have blazed the trail before him on the wedding front and as I write this I can hear Ashleigh's voice saying "mum, come on now. KISS- keep it simple stupid", with hand gestures so I really get the point. What can I say.  I have 5 daughters and didn't have any sisters growing up.

We had 150 cupcakes which included my favorite Rolo cupcakes, plus Oreo, Cream Cheese Frosting,  buttercream frosting all on my signature chocolate cupcakes.
We went with a small, layered butter cake iced with cream cheese frosting.
Anyway, regardless of a cyclone hitting the coast, torrential rain and an emergency change of venue,  we had a fantastic night. Now the count down to July 4th.  I can't wait!

Happy Birthday From W.A.

This order was a very special one.  A lovely lady contacted me some time ago to order a birthday surprise for a dear friend of hers.  She was moving to Western Australia, which is quite literally the other side of the world or at least might as well be because it's as far away from Brisbane, Queensland  as you can get. This meant she wouldn't be here for her dear friends birthday and wanted to have something special delivered to her on the night of her birthday. Needless to say she was very surprised.  It's nice to be loved....

Happy Dr SUESS Day!

As you may know March 2nd is the official Dr SUESS day and for the past 3 years I've had the exciting job of making cupcakes for the year 1 class at Ferny Grove School. Last year I did Cat in the Hat so I wanted to do something different and settled for an old favorite 'Green Eggs and Ham' theme. You really can't beat a dr SUESS cupcake!
